Barbary and Red-Nape Shaheens
Most of our Barbary
falcons originate from Saudi Arabia and a few from the
Yemen. These compact
falcons have proved to be
ideal little game hawks
particularly for partridges. The males can
be used with great success with
‘ waiting-on flights’ at starlings and
similar sized birds. All Barbary
falcon
production at present is accomplished via artificial insemination,
although
several young pairs, from new bloodlines are maturing. Seven un-related
bloodlines are now represented across the Sixteen individuals
kept for breeding
so we are able to supply you with un-related
pairs if you are purchasing with
future breeding in you mind.
Although we produce a
small number of Red-Nape Shaheens
annually, due to this species being rare
within captivity at
the present time, we prefer not sell them for falconry at
this
moment in time.
Exchanges for new blood lines will be given
priority. Five un-related bloodlines are now
represented
from the seven individuals which we have at present. We
would like
to hope that within the next 4-5 years we will
have a self sustaining population
and that the red-napes
future in falconry will be assured.
All our Barbary and Red-Nape Shaheens can be traced back to the original wild stock. We are also producing Gyr hybrids from both species of falcon, but our priority is to produce pure wherever possible.
